On Wednesday night, April 7, the BVSAR hall at Ranger Park was forcibly broken into and vital equipment was stolen. BVSAR suffered a big hit to their electronics equipment. Taken were numerous inReaches (GPS tracking devices), iPads (mapping and tracking), charging stations, and a heavy-duty Rope Rescue backpack.
“The equipment that was taken is essential to the effective and safe operations of our team.”
– Anastasia Ledwon, BVSAR president
BVSAR will continue to operate using members’ personal gear; however, the team needs to replace the stolen gear as soon as possible. Insurance will be covering some of the cost but the coverage is not complete and the equipment will need to be upgraded (some of the electronics were from 2012!).
Currently BVSAR is fundraising to cover some of the costs to replace the stolen gear. You can help BVSAR meet its fundraising goal by making a donation on the BVSAR GoFundMe page or visit the BVSAR general fundraising page for more ways you can support BVSAR.
We appreciate the support from our community and look forward to restoring our ability to rely on our essential gear and continue our commitment to servicing the communities of the Bulkley Valley and beyond.
BVSAR suffered a big hit to its electronics equipment when our offices were broken into and robbed in April. Taken were numerous inReaches (GPS tracking devices), iPads (mapping and tracking), charging stations, and a heavy-duty Rope Rescue backpack.
While we can continue to operate using members’ personal gear (and we are always free!), we need to replace our team gear as soon as possible. Any support is always appreciated.
